I'm old enough to remember when the Manson clan tried to get a mistrial declared after Charlie somehow got a hold of a newspaper with the headline "Manson Guilty Nixon Declares" and proceeded to hold it up in court where the jury could see it. The ploy didn't work, because the judge recognized that tossing the case would mean the defendants would benefit from their own stunt, but there was a big deal made about the fact that Nixon opened his pie-hole about an ongoing criminal case in a way that could have prejudiced the jury.
