73. Years ago -- like in the 50s my parents were approached by a beef-selling salesman

We bought some chop-meat and stew meat from him a few times.

It was delicious. We loved it.

Turned out it was horse meat. He went to jail and my 'rents never bought from a door-to-door guy again

Now, today, with so many of these young and affable charlatans knocking on doors to sell dubious services, and mindful of my family's unwitting plunge into the joys of equine flesh so long ago, I have a sign on my door that says:

NOTA BENE:
NO solicitors,
NO salespeople,
NO representatives of any company or charity

If we haven’t contacted you and requested to meet with you, please do not disturb us, do not knock on our door, do not ring our bell or summon us in any way to speak with you.

Abeas!
Ne excites daemonia intus!

I know they won't know the latin, but they'll probably understand that the message is neither pleasant nor intended to be. (Basically, it means "Go away! Don't arouse the demons inside!&quot

It works.
