have been women who live alone and they're followed while shopping at high-end grocery stores. The perps look for women wearing expensive clothing/jewelry, follow them out to the parking lot, and to their home. They come back later, break into the home to steal whatever is valuable. In at least two cases, the homeowners were killed.
Women have to stay vigilant.

In our town, door-to-door sales people have to register with the police first. Otherwise, they can be arrested.
