I'm not sure what that narcissism comment was about. If you want to get ahead you have to be out there making contacts and building relationships. It doesn't matter why an employer wants you in the office - they get to make the call. There is much to be said about the treatment of American workers, but I'm with you - this is one complaint that completely disinterests me.
