OK... so now billionaires, by the condition of having a certain net worth, are now prevented from moving?
Why stop at billionaires, why not anyone with a net worth of $1M?
Good luck with this one, federal law being in supremacy over state law and everything.
I am all in favor of getting billionaires to pay more to the federal and state tax collectors. Between the feds and the state I know I pay 50 percent of every dollar I make... and close to 59 percent of every dollar I spend on stuff in federal, state, property and sales taxes. It would be nice if the people with a higher net worth than me also contributed the same percentage. I am fine with paying my share... but I have never owned a house in California, never had children here ( although I have a daughter, I did not adopt her until after I could no longer claim her as a dependent ). I feel the government should NOT be in the business of social engineering as far as lifestyle choices ( own v rent, children v. no children, etc ). We should have a progressive tax system, but that tax system should be fair and it should be universally imposed ( not state by state or city by city ). We all need to pay for the common good.
Now come up with a way to do it. One that cannot be avoided by clever tax people ( we really should eliminate tax people - either from the IRS side or the tax preparation / tax lawyer side, completely useless people that do not contribute a damn thing to society ).
