Up to 50% of your Social Security benefits can be subject to federal income tax if your "provisional income" (your Adjusted Gross Income + nontaxable interest + half your Social Security benefits) falls between $25,000 and $34,000 for single filers, or $32,000 and $44,000 for joint filers.

Congress made the rules, don't blame me.
