4. Everyone knew the Strait was their biggest weapon

That's why Iran has been mostly left alone for decades.

Iran could not have dreamed of a better scenario. They showed they can stand up to the American military and their rockets can inflict damage on the entire region. I am sure that even those on Iran's side didn't really think their rockets could destroy US equipment and buildings at bases throughout the region. The damage the US military suffered was not covered in the US, but Iran was able to destroy dozens of builds and aircraft throughout the region. Thankfully, our safety procedures minimized the deaths of US personnel, but I think the entire thing was an eye opener to the world that the US is not invulnerable.

Iran has elevated their standing for the future, this was a great victory for those in power there in every way. They now have to be taken seriously when they threaten countries. The opposition in Iran no longer has any power, they united behind the regime when they were attacked. The Strait is now going to be used whenever Iran wants something and I do believe some kind of toll will be in place. Their nuclear program will continue completely unchecked now. The leaders who were killed were replaced by hard liners. And they're extracting $10s of millions to rebuild their military arsenal.

Because of this foolish war, Iran is going to be a bigger problem for the world from now on. Total US failure.
