He had a job. He did it well. His replacement is doing just as well.

I don't know why I have to factor his feelings into the calculus.

Plenty of people that work in offices get fired, get forced out, suffer indignities and "office politics".

No elected representative is owed their rank. They must constantly earn trust.

Al Franken was absolutely forced out - but he made the decision to, not anyone else.

He made a moral and ethical call.
