57. My late Mother was a huge Trump supporter from the instant he came on the political scene.

I tried and failed miserably to convince her after the pussy-grabbing comments that she couldn't vote for him; she just gave me the stink eye like "Oh hell yes I'll vote how I want". I eventually stopped following her on FB and other social media sites because it just got more and more extreme. Of course she voted for him in 2020 and again in 2024, but I'd stopped even trying to discuss politics with her by then. I knew she didn't have a lot of time left and didn't want to waste that time on him.

Last fall, when Hegseth et al wanted to have Mark Kelly executed, I happened to be at her house while that was going on. She said she was outraged and I told her she should be, and by that I meant outraged that someone would have to spell out for people to follow the law. That was the last time we discussed politics at all before she passed early this year.

It's hard to have a relationship with people whose mindset is "he can do nothing wrong" in spite of all the evidence that's right in front of them.
