The phrase "antisemitism is a very light sleeper" was coined by the Irish writer Conor Cruise O'Brien. It is often used to describe how deep-rooted prejudice against Jewish people never truly disappears; it simply waits, only to be easily awakened by geopolitical events, political instability, or times of crisis.
