Delegation does NOT absolve you of responsibility. As a leader, I was responsible for tasks that I delegated to my subordinates. I had the responsibility to follow up with those subordinates if they did not report status of tasking back to me. Either way, if my subordinates didn't complete a task, that was on ME, in the eyes of my Chain of Command, and rightfully so.
