So, as he realizes there is no way out without painting a big L for Loser on his forehead, he decides to try a little switcheroo

Instead of being an unrivaled deal maker, he's going for "Holding out is strength." He can milk that forever because if holding out a month is strength, then holding out 6 months must be super-strength! Holding out a year...

And might as well get people used to the idea the strait will still be closed in November because "I don't care about the midterms "

I suspect it may not play out the way he imagines in his psychopathic fantasies.
