Sort of like the claim that somehow Qatar was funnelling gobs of money to student groups - to purchase tents, placards and whistles, perhaps? Let's not forget the ubiquitous kefiyehs, a pretty large outlay unless they were bought in volume at discount or something? But with all that Qatari mullah, the students must have splurged on Egyptian cotton or fine silk perhaps.

Levity aside, is there any actual evidence that the student groups lived high off the hog due to Qatari largesse? Or are you perhaps confusing the fact of Qatari funding to universities with direct funding to student protest groups?
