This administration is led by a 34-time convicted fraudster, and there is more corruption in it than any other administration in American history. It's also blatantly obvious by this administration targeting a blue state rather than a red state with a high incidence of Medicare fraud, that it's politically motivated. This announcement was accompanied by a 6 month moratorium on new enrollment in Medicare for hospice care. If you've had a loved one in hospice, you know the invaluable care they provide. They have much wider latitude in dispensing pain medications than most doctors. Physicians are continuously monitored by the DEA which tracks prescribing habits to prevent the misuse of prescription medications. Most doctors are reluctant, or limited by the facility or practice in which they work, in prescribing painkillers or opioids, lest they attract the attention of the DEA. As hospice is, by definition, end-of-life care for a short period of time, they are allowed to give their patients drugs like morphine and fentanyl if needed to ease the agonizing pain of terminal illness. However, if a person is recently diagnosed as terminal and newly enrolled in Medicare, they'd be denied the pain relief hospice could provide. If even one American has to die in preventable pain as a result of this moratorium, it's one American too many.
