26. I spent the entire month of November in Australia, visiting a long-time family friend from Melbourne . . ..

. . . Nearly everybody I met asked how our country could ever have elected Trump. In fact, there are quite a number of things about American culture that they have a very hard time understanding.

The thing is, Australians (at least all of the ones I met), are laid back, very reasonable people. Their politics varies, of course, from one person to the next. But whether they fall to the left or the right of the political spectrum, most recognize that the taxes they pay to support things like their robust system of public health, which includes dental as well as medical coverage, or programs that help those who are enduring difficult times financially, are a good and necessary thing.

So it really doesn't surprise me in the least that they would find the Trump brand to be too toxic!
