that Trump will actually retaliate if they say anything that's really negative because Trump has made it abundantly clear he will use Executive power to go after anyone who he dislikes. It's more likely that the NYT is afraid of repercussions from the Trump administration than anything a Democratic one would produce.

And there's a side benefit for the M$M, reporting on Trump grabs online eye balls, which means more money. I half suspect the reason the M$M never really made Trump's life uncomfortable was they figured out Trump in office sparked continuous outrage, which translated to higher traffic on their platforms and more money (than compared to more milquetoast Democratic administrations). Who gives a sh-t about the country burning down as long as they pay me to film it?
