As a former military medic, I know there are whispers around the hospital or the department, or which team of doctors a patient sees, or what equipment rolls through the corridors to his room. A trained eye could get close to what a patient is suffering from.

And trust me, not every doctor in the military is an expert in his field, regardless of his military rank. I have seen it firsthand in the operating room, where I worked. I was a USAF 90252 (Operating Room Specialist), a "scrub tech" who assisted the surgeons.
