71. Not asking anyone to forgive him
Sun Apr 19, 2026, 09:39 AM

Earlier this year, I frequently posted that Maine could surely do better than Mills or Platner.

No other candidates came forward, and after several months of capacity-filled town halls where Maine voters could ask Platner unscripted question, he is polling far ahead of Mills despite her ads about his past Reddit comments. Surely, almost all Maine voters are now aware of these comments.

So, I am not suggesting that anyone forgive him, but rather to face the reality that he almost certainly will be the next Dem nominee for senate.

It’s becoming pretty clear that, despite past personal errors and missteps, populist candidates are defeating centrist candidates handily.

Now imagine what a populist Dem candidate without Platner’s personal history could do on the national stage- we have already seen a local example with Mamdani.
