In reply to the discussion: We had to put our kitty Zeke to sleep tonight [View all]ShazzieB
(22,696 posts)We had only had her for a little less than eight years. She developed mammary cancer at a surprisingly young age (it's most common in older female cats who weren't spayed until an advanced age, which was not true of her). After an initial surgery, she was fine for months, but the vet warned us that the disease was very aggressive and would almost certainly come back, which it eventually did.
Letting her go was hard, but my only regret is not doing it a little sooner. Cats are really good at hiding it when they don't feel great, and looking back, I think she was extremely good at it. But that's all in the past now.
I'm so sorry for your loss and wish you peace and healing in the days, weeks, and months ahead. I'm sure Zeke left footprints on your heart that will never go away and would want you to cherish his memory. 😻
