My grandmother stayed there temporarily. My great grandfather wrote a book in the 1950's and said, "They were in the Golan when my daughter was picking what she thought was tomato and ate it".

Long story short, it turned out to be deadly nightshade and my grandmother saved her younger sister's life. My great grandfather simply called it "Golan". All of this happened circa 1916-1922 when they were in Syria.
