Tyson was, of course, referring to "close encounters." He was refuting that aliens want to abduct us and give us anal probes.

I'm not a practicing scientist either. I just believe in logic, science, and mathematics. That doesn't mean believing everything a "scientist" has to say.

Historically speaking, science gets it wrong for many years, until they get it right.

The probability that we are being visited is ridiculously small (such as due to the Drake equation).

I think most UAPs that fly that fast look that way because of angular factors such as relative motion, parallax, and errors in measurement.

In every case, it is far more likely that there are errors not seen and accounted for (e.g., unknown unknowns) than the possibility that we are being visited.

If we are being visited, I say, "Come and get me. I'm ready. I'll even bring the lube."
