Even here, in the metro Phoenix area, regular unleaded gas is well over $4/gal. The station we usually use hit $5/gal last weekend and is currently at $4.90. Gas prices in the western states are generally quite a bit higher than back east, but the press seems to ignore that.

Preemptive disclaimer: Texas is not a western state, no matter how much they like to cosplay.
