from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" after she turned into a giant blueberry from chewing the untested food gum? But seriously, that would explain a lot of this. I have noticed that the "functions" seem to be limited to "family." Trying to keep the eyeballs limited to those who have the most interest in keeping whatever the hell is going on covered up, it seems.
