A thorny question: If the draft had not ended [View all]

(or if it had been reinstated in some form before now)

wouldn't we see a HELLUVA LOT more pushback from EVERYONE and their congress critters, on the absolute destructive insane debacle Trump started and is perpetuating? Even freakin' MAGAT congress filth would be drowning in feedback from even their freakin' MAGAT constituents who suddenly realize that little Billy who just turned 18, could be sent over to die on foreign soil for the wealth of a shitstain who doesn't even give proper respect to servicemembers, in a war that is costing this country billions.

Oh it is perfectly bad enough without a draft - just not obvious enough to some people. Until they or their kids are the ones who will literally bleed and die. Losing jobs and health care, they can make up stories about that to feel okay for supporting Trump. But when they start dying for him ... whole different story.

And for the record, I am not pro-draft*. This thought occurred to me and I felt like asking for DUer's thoughts on the point - any accuracy to it? If yes, does it mean anything?

* I have been pro-national-service in the past, which is very different than the traditional military draft. But not sure about that even now - because if this electorate will let orange shitstain get away with so much, even non-military work under national service could be abused to serve evil.

Also for the record, I myself served in the military. In peacetime and with decent national leadership, military service offers a lot of positive benefit to young people (and yes some thorns). I would obviously not recommend volunteering to anyone with the current national leadership. And certainly would not support restarting a traditional military draft.
