He also said he can do whatever he wants with it. The really scary, mind numbing thing is that this is just one of several statements that would have taken down any other President. Because the WH press corps still refuses to band together and do follow ups when he says untrue, dangerous, or antidemocratic things, he feels completely free to let loose.

I am old enough to remember when the press was dismissively called "stenographers" because they just regurgitated the Bush administration's talking points. By comparison with this gang, they were brave stalwarts of journalism.
