but there should be a separate voter ID that states should issue free. The states should seek out every citizen, and not wait for people to make any effort to register. Voting should be easier than breathing.

And yes, let's make elections 24/7 for a week, at least. And nobody should have to drive more than a few miles. If only we had a reliable mail service....
