I am continually jsurprised by him, and it's exhausting. I'm never surprised to hear he's done something awful (again), but the specific awful things he decides to do constantly take me by surprise. I've given up trying to predict anything, because my brain isn't warped and twisted enough to anticipate what his warped and twisted brain might come up with, and every new piece of bad news is like a sucker punch.
My response has been to block out as much of it as I can, but it's getting harder and harder.
