This is an issue many of us face and I think your approach is pretty healthy. When it becomes too much, sit down and have a good cry, but then do something active. We need to accept our feelings but we also need to take action, even if it's just getting that damn filter replaced. And keep the perspective that TSF is facing a lot of resistance from every possible direction, some of which, like the protesters in Minneapolis and elsewhere, is a glory to behold. We are not alone.
