31. This is not the work of Trump alone.

Yes, he loves chaos. But he is backed, funded, and coached (as much as anyone can coach him) by far right individuals and groups. When Trump entered the political scene , he was a gift to them for promoting their agendas.

We make a huge mistake if we think that Trump is the source of the fascist movement in the US. Vance was promoted as Trump's VP in 2024 by Peter Thiel.

Have you noticed how Trump sometimes prefaces a comment with, "I'm not supposed to say this, but...."? Or, "They don't want me to say this...."

It sounds like a rebellious child disobeying his parents in public where they can't stop him, just to prove that he has some independence.

I know that Bob Woodward is not popular on DU because he saved significant info for his book instead of going public with it right away, but there are things he's written that are worth paying attention to. In his book, Peril, he describes how Trump was depressed and angry after the 2020 election and failure of his coup attempt. He would have languished away at Mar a Lago, occasionally spouting his BS in self-defensive media statements except that Lindsay Graham made frequent trips to MAL to encourage Trump that he still had a future in political leadership.

Trump talked about being "the chosen one." I can just imagine envoys from the far right telling him that as encouragement. I can imagine them flattering him with religious slants like "This is your destiny. God has chosen you and we are obeying God's will and command. Only you can save America and the world, so we will help you, but you must follow our advice because we are God's messengers to you."

To normal people, that sounds insane, especially since Trump is not and never has been religious. But to a depressed narcissist who was already showing signs of mental decline it would be uplifting music to his ears. I believe that a group of far right leaders has been playing him like a puppet, with just enough string to be himself, but pulling hard on the strings when he strays too far or does something that might hurt their agenda.

Remember that bizarre campaign rally when Trump swayed back and forth on the stage while Noem stayed with him, constantly calling him "sir" and leading him to remember what they were doing next? Trump had some kind of episode that day and Noem was in hand to be his handler. I believe that he is getting cocktails of meds to keep him functioning.

It is the people behind Trump who are leading the fascist agenda. They are the ones who will step in to run the show if the country falls into total chaos. Or, if they decide to ditch Trump when he is of no further use to him. Vance is their chosen one to take over.

I know that this sounds like a conspiracy theory, but we are already past normal into territory where political agendas are beyond what we ever thought could happen in the US. The patterns of RW politics in the US now follow patterns of other democracies that have been taken over by autocrats.
