… appoints Powell’s successor after May. Interests rates will be lowered then by whichever sycophant he installs. Some will benefit immensely from that move. Others will suffer.

For whatever reason, he seems to want to further sully Powell’s name before he leaves. It might just be retribution for not falling in line or some other perceived slight (not giving him a hurrrumph, maybe?). Or maybe he wants to bully him into taking the rates down now so he’ll have a scapegoat to blame when it hammers his base. Who the Hell knows anymore.
