DU'er,
Last year, Trumps Big
Beautiful Bullshit Bill let Affordable Care Act tax credits expire. It was one of the many provisions of the bill that screwed over working Americans to pay for tax breaks for some of the richest people in history.
The impasse over healthcare affordability -- Democrats insisting the subsidies get funded, and Republicans refusing to negotiate at all -- led to last falls government shutdown. Yes, Trump was so committed to kicking Americans off healthcare, he shut down the whole-ass government to do it.
As a result, 22 million Americans saw their premiums double on January 1, and it is projected that up to six million have lost, or soon will lose, their coverage.1
But last Thursday, there was a breakthrough. Seventeen House Republicans backed a Democratic bill to restore the subsidies and end the healthcare nightmare of the GOPs own making. Now its the Senates turn to do the right thing and pass this bill.

Seventeen House Republicans saw the writing on the wall, understanding that theyd be held responsible for the lives upended -- and lost -- due to the healthcare crisis they unleashed.
In order to overcome a filibuster in the Senate, we need to convince thirteen Republican senators to break from Trump and allow this bill to advance. They clearly dont care that its the right thing to do -- but perhaps theyll act if they understand their political lives depend on it.
And of course, we need every Democrat to be fighting hard to pass this too. Thats why were urging everyone to take action today, regardless of what parties your senators belong to.

Members of Congress are working on a solution to address the huge rate hikes that hit January 1, but any solution they pass will have to happen soon, so it can be implemented before even more people drop coverage they cant afford and the logistics become even more confusing.
No one should ever have to choose between accessing necessary healthcare and buying groceries or paying rent. No one's life should ever be in danger because they couldn't afford to go to the doctor.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
