over his head since his health started going to super-shit. I think he had a minor stroke last summer sometime, whenever it was that the stupid hat started making regular appearances for indoor events, where it clearly wasn’t keeping the wind at bay. His hair and makeup . . went through some things . . through that period of time and he still seems to be working it out, but I think he was finally forced to submit to having his hair done by professional staff because of his new level of physical debility. It may not have been his first or only stroke but it’s the first one I think that “stuck” for lack of a better word.

He’s fortunate (the rest of Earth not so much) that the stroke did not leave him with even more, clearly visible deficits. I think the cankles, the hands, the strange gait, the droopy face, the grooming changes, the slurring, the swinging right leg and the constant falling asleep in public, the repeated cognitive testing and imaging are all tied to stroke. It’s the one thing that really checks all the boxes and brings the whole mess together in a plausible, unifying theory.
