This most devastating thing would be internal, not external. Would Congress authorize war? Withdraw from NATO? Would the troops follow orders that clearly violate international law?
IMO, we would see "state level" resistance based on political support and I suspect the end of our so-called "United States". I think that history shows (although we have a very short history) that the US never...ever, admits it's mistakes. We don't even allow the history of our atrocities to be taught these days.
BOTTOM LINE - unless we impeach this lunatic we have running our country we are setting ourselves up for some bad shit.
