2. Let the hand wringing with no meaningful action begin. Other countries could do more but they are too scared.

They could boycott American goods. (Some have, unofficially). Stop allowing Americans to visit. Stop buying American treasury bonds. And the Danish fellow who wrote that we Americans screwed up and elected this guy is right that it is our responsibility to fix it but they could do things too.
