Your opinion sought — and this time it feels urgent:

Under normal circumstances, I’d already be on the phone and in my inbox contacting my representative and both senators about the kidnapping of a foreign president. But this time, I’m holding back.

Like many of you, I spent most of 2025 calling, writing, and pleading with my elected officials and Dem. party leadership as we watched a steady slide toward fascism.. And to be blunt, the response has been disappointing. Frustrating. Inadequate for the moment we’re living in.

In 2026, I need to see something different. I need to see action—not statements, not symbolic concern, not another round of “we’re monitoring the situation.” I want to see whether my representatives are willing to stand up, sustain pressure, and refuse to let this crisis fade into the background. And I want to see whether they call on us to act alongside them.

Friends, I’m asking: how are you approaching this moment, and what do you think we should expect from our leaders right now?
