(114 posts)My ultimate goal is to make Twitter a ghost town. It's not just a matter of only liberals or Democrats leaving Twitter, it's everyone that should leave except we can leave the hard-right fascists behind because they shouldn't be anywhere but if they have to be somewhere having them quarantined to a toxic dumb is better than having them where we are. Then once Twitter becomes irrelevant I hope they will close their doors and go out of business.
Leading up to the 2024 election Elon Musk was involved in an operation to micro-target Americans and focus on a single issue to divided Democrats and reduce turnout. This led to people focusing on that single issue and reduced turnout. Whenever someone talks about a single issue I think it's important to remind people that candidates have many different policies and it's important to vote for who matches most of your stances, not all your stances. Here's the article about Musk's microtargeting: https://sfl.media/elon-musk-funded-pac-is-using-advanced-micro-targeting-to-swing-voters-for-trump/. Ultimately Trump's campaign strategy was to "lose less". There was an article I read a long time ago about this, sadly I didn't bookmark it so I don't have it for you but it was really good. This will serve as a substitute: https://www.apr.org/politics-government/2024-11-09/these-charts-show-how-trumps-strategy-to-lose-by-less-won-back-several-swing-states the article I read along time ago explained in a more clear way how the Trump campaign's goal was to reduce enthusiasm among Democrats so they don't turn out. The Trump campaign realized they won't get many new Trump supports so that's what they did: bring down Democrats instead of bring up Republicans.
Musk can remove something he doesn't like at any time. For example when Musk's DOGE was raiding the government DOGE never showed up in the trending section despite it being big news on other platforms and I noticed it seemed like posts related to the illegal things DOGE was doing had less reach on Twitter.
Musk can also subtly alter what kind of content undecided voters see and radicalize them.
Musk can do basically anything since he owns the platform. He's like the casino house.
I wish I could find the discussion but there were some big accounts who were talking about how after Elon Musk bought Twitter all of a sudden their account dropped off almost completely in terms of engagement.
