(315 posts)This is a perfect example of why there is no arguing with conservatives of today.
This individual asserts that there is no way to discredit his BS because he doesn't have unrelated vices. He fails to acknowledge that the appropriate way of arguing against his accusations is to dismantle them directly.
For conservatives it has all been about character assassination even as we've witnessed the rise of an entirely nefarious and unqualified leader as well as a wide cadre of sycophants of dubious repute.
This poor child thinks that because he eschews the things that his party used to revile as hedonistic he's immune from criticism or substantive argument.
Such is the difficulty that Democrats and the larger left has encountered with this new breed of Visigothian conservative. Conventional rules of engagement, standard factual debate...these things no longer serve as viable tactics. Truth is no longer of any value. BELIEF is above all and they'll never believe anything we say ever again.
This is one reason, perhaps, that Democrats are hesitant to advocate for Trunip's removal. Political martyrdom could re-galvanize the base and prove tricky as we execute the plan to retake the government and restore the country.
