4. Republicans don't like invading countries they know will shoot back.

Reagan invaded the tiny island of Grenada. Bush I invaded Panama. With Kuwait, had figured it out, and stopped at the Iraqi border. Cheney and Rumsfeld didn’t change tactics with Iraq (“maybe six days, maybe six weeks, certainly not six months.”—oops). They just badly miscalculated. Cheney must have had a habit of ignoring solid evidence he preferred not to believe. Joe Wilson, e.g. Cheney got very vindictive if someone pointed out that he was lying. Just ask Joe’s ex-wife, Valerie, whom Cheney outed as a CIA operative, and got so disgusted with D.C. that she moved WAY the hell away from there.

To invade a country like Venezuela with lots of different topography and lots of jungle, and lots of opposition who is already well-armed—that does not fit the ideal Republican playbook. Too many American kids would come home in body bags, and that looks bad on Youtube sites that would viewed 3 million times by next breakfast.
