A picture was posted of the one at Mar-A-Lago, behind velvet ropw...as if on display at a museum. Is it really a replica? Or is a reproduction in the oval?

I have asked that question. Someone needs to look in the drawers of the one on display at MAL. The inside will reveal its age.

One should be able to tell from the outside finish as well. But I have always been concerned that they would over-finish it. I don't trust them to use the right specialists for such a refinish. It should be handled with care and precision, to avoid "alteration". But I can see those morons over-polishing it.
