and I'm not criticizing him. I'm just pointing out that if anyone ever finds themselves in a similar situation, take advantage of the moment you have the upper hand.

He was shot by the man on the elevated position. If he shoots the shooter he disarmed immediately and gets to cover, he might not have been shot at all. Holding the gun on the man left him exposed.
