Air travel 50+ years ago was a big deal, something Americans could not afford on any kind of regular basis. That said, yes, airline flight attendants (then only female) did dress up, and so did the mostly businessmen and wealthier vacation travelers who flew:

-In planes equipped to give passengers 2-3 times (or more) the space to avoid overcrowding
-in planes that were kept immaculately clean
-Received FULL meals and many perks
-On airlines determined to MAKE flying a SPECIAL experience


So, Sean Duffy. When that experience comes back, WITHOUT raising ticket prices so high you bankrupt the system, I'd bet some passengers MIGHT consider an upgrade to their flying wardrobe.
