I agree with this column's overall point. Democratic politicians need to show people that they're willing to fight back.

Mocking Governor Abbott? He's a cruel, stupid man. Calling him Hot Wheels is so minor compared to the things Trump and his crew say every day it's not worth comment.

Politics has changed for the worst thanks to Fox News, hate radio, and internet trolling. We can't win by pretending it's still the old ways.

I remember when Dick Cheney said "fuck you" to somebody on the Senate floor. He got away with it. The rules have changed.

Twenty years ago I could not have imagined that a person as vile as Trump could be elected president. He's been elected twice. Here's where we are. I don't like it either but here we are.
