:The only band that ended up matching The Who for me (and it took decades!) is U2, by their 360° tour '09, '11; and I started seeing U2 in '84.
Anyway, The Who is the only band my NJ suburban cousin introduced me to in '67 - The Who Sell Out. (I had big NYC Radio to be introduced to bands). Seen them ?19 time in The States. NYC, Philadelphia, NJ, Maryland.
What other countries did you see them in?
I saw them 3 times in '68, including in early '68 on the last tour they wore their power-pop stage clothes w Pete's whire, pearl button jacket his then wife sewed up. Roge wore red velvet suit, frilly white shirt.
.
One of the best shows was seeing Tommy at The Filmore East in Oct '69 with The Joshua Light Show. Fantastic atmosphere!
.
Two other extroidinary shows were Forest Hills July 29 & 31 1971, Who's Next tour. Especially because they played Pure and Easy as a full song: which up till then was only the coda of The Song Is Over; another extroidinary song!
I also ran up to the front tow (and wasn't pushed away!) and got fabulous photos of 2/3rs of the show! Unfortunately I lost 3 of 4 sets of negatives over the summer while printing photos at my Art school's photo iab! 😑😑😉
I believe I still have one set left, and I rhinkthe contact sheets from the others. I gave to figure out a way to get some them blown up, ?digitally.
Saw them a lot at MSG in '76 & '79. Pete did an extroidinary solo that I no longer have on cassette bc i snuck my recorder into the area! 😄 A few times, actually!
So far I have not found it on YT.
Most fun run was what me & my sis called our "Bi Centennial Who Run"- though it started in ?Dec '75. I think it was Phillidelphia Spectrum first in which me & an a friend went down, and stayed up all night on line for tix the next morning! It was cold!
.
Then MSG, next up to Boston w/o tix, and after that a few months later catching a notice in Billboard Mag that they would be playing at Largo MD Arena.
When we got there our seats were taken up by the sound board (about row 20 something). Oh, no! But... they replaced our seats with *10th* row! Yay! First time I saw them use the lasers. I took a great B&W phot of that!
I really loved their '89 show despite their loss. They did "Too Much Of Anything" a fav from WN.
In 2015 I found a nice mini-park to sit in, in front of an apt complex outside of Forrest Hills Tennis Stadium, and near the gate. Couldn't afford tix.
The coolest thing was once getting off the bus (I actually was in another part of Queens for something else earlier) I was walking past a big block of apt buildings, and The Who had started - their music wafted over the rooftops! 😄🥰
The last time I saw them was 2019 Sept at MSG.
What an extraordinarily talented band!
If you want to please share some of your Who concert stories!
👍🙂
