People blame NAFTA. I remember when it was enacted. Manufacturing jobs were leaving the US no matter what we did. NAFTA was a way to control that somewhat.

People romanticize manufacturing and mining jobs. They're not that great. Most people would prefer to do something else that doesn't destroy their bodies.
