General Discussion

Empathy is important, but imo you have to "get tired" doing it. That is, you absolutely have to do the work to do it right. Otherwise, it bends and warps back on itself. It produces cruelty, humiliation, and backlash when you don't do the work. When you don't do the work, human suffering results and, worse, is your fault.

(Then you have to do the work to correct and forgive yourself.)
