I've heard people say that they aren't willing to socialize with neighbors or relatives because of political disagreements. This is generally a mistake. It is important for people to find ways to maintain friendships, and even more important to maintain relationships with close relatives. Cutting people off because of politics is harmful to everyone involved. It makes people feel attacked for their beliefs. It shrinks their world and likely pushes them further to the dark side. I've also heard people say that people deserve to be cut off because their views are incompatible with a moral or civil society (and in my opinion, you are probably right). The problem is that cutting people off because of their political views raises questions about the people doing it, rather than their acquaintances.
It's better to be like Obama and find ways to get along than to treat people dismissively and disrespectfully.
You may ensue the righteous lectures about how you no longer tolerate their bad behavior, etc., etc.

I think they have assigned seating based on seniority: 1 Clinton, 2 Bush, 3 Obama, 4 Trump.

Wealthy, powerful people can afford to be cordial to people who wish them harm. They will be just fine.

There is a difference between being cordial at a funeral and pretending for 4 hours that they didn't vote for Hitler
