He doesn’t care what his supporters think. I believe he is so narcissistic that he does care what historians say about him. Without access to historical documents like the full Mueller report, which he’ll also have destroyed, and Jack Smith’s documentation and reports, historians will be denied the full picture and have to rely on allegations, not evidence.
