(CNN) The meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Service in Los Angeles, Ariel Cohen, has described the three fires burning across Los Angeles county as “one of the worst situations that we’ve ever seen.”

Speaking to CNN, with emotion palpable in his voice, Cohen said that a variety of “volatile” weather conditions had come together “with some of the most extreme, destructive, life-threatening wind storms that we’re getting across the area, with bone-dry conditions,” he said. ..................(more)
