because it sounds and feels so defeatist, I agree with you. And to a large extent, that's what I've been doing since the election.

Americans are too soft, too scared, and too dominated to do a general strike. Other countries aren't like us. Their citizens protest, riot, and actually run out bad government actors. They shut down not just a city... they shut down cities all over the country. Just imagine what could happen here if Americans could come together to do something like that. But "coming together" is the one thing that won't happen... period. There's too much of a political/sociological/religious divide and it's all but 50/50. Without buy in from everyone, strikes like that aren't effective. Our oligarchs just hire scabs and fire everyone else.

Oh, to be like the French....!
