Related: About this forumHeather Cox Richardson Chris Coons discuss Democratic messaging as we approach the mid-terms
(recommend 10:00 to 20:00 minute mark at 1.8 speed)
Summary:
Chris says we need more than just outrage to carry us through.
Democrats had a very detailed plan for what they would do for people in the last two elections.
But message never really got out.
We didn't use soundbites like Republicans did and they have a Right wing echo system.
Democrats need a few concrete simple proposals.
Pick a few that speak to what our core values and priorities are.
My personal opinion is in agreement because we need to take the Senate (which will be harder) as well as the House.

(216 posts)2. Only 8% of voters are Progressive Activists
https://hiddentribes.us/profiles/
To win elections we need at least 51% of the votes, and policies that seem great to the 8% might not fly with everyone else. Wisconsin is not the only place we need to win votes, we also need more voters from NY 14th congressional district where we are losing more and more minority voters. The 14th is AOC's district.
Our party needs to adapt, to change with the times, to speak to the issues important to voters now. The voters don't need to change, we do.

(331 posts)3. Dems need to market to the Scotch-Irish directly
Sure, the Scotch-Irish are ornery, cantankous, bellicose and deplorable. That would include racist, ignorant and not use to wearing shoes. But in the words ofJames Webb, you ignore the Scotch-Irish at your peril
